Sally is excited for the first day of puppy school, but it isn’t easy when there are so many new things to see (and sniff!).

It's hard to focus at puppy school when there are all kinds of pups to play with, water to splash in...and so many smells! But Sally doesn't give up and keeps trying, ending the day triumphantly.

Just like children, puppies have a lot to explore in and learn about the world around them. This sweet story will give confidence to young readers as they venture into the world to learn and try new things.

Editorial Reviews

“Clearly understands the drama of sitting and listening when you are a young child. A puppy in obedience training is the perfect corollary to the experience of “failing” and, ultimately, trying again until you succeed…Quirky and saturated illustrations are a perfect accompaniment for our wiggly and disobedient heroine.”

CM: Canadian Review of Materials

“Provides an opportunity for either a parent or a teacher to discuss the difficulties of beginning a new school year...Children will enjoy comparing their school day to Sally’s. Colorful illustrations add to the fun of this developmentally appropriate story.”

Children's Literature Comprehensive Database (CLCD)

“A cheery and exuberant book to be shared in joyful read-alouds with toddlers and adults.”

School Library Journal

“A winsome first-day-of-school offering for the new student and year.”
