Description

This book of Psalms is a rich and enduring collection of prayer-poems that explore all aspects of human experience: love, loss, anger, fear, trust, hope, despair, comfort, and much more. But although they are timeless, they can still benefit from being 'reupholstered' every now an then for people today. In this book, Greg Kennedy offers us 50 psalms 'sung new' that speak to our current experience: consumerism, terrorism, climate change, forced migration, the extinction of species, intolerance...and the list goes on. The substance and structure - the bones - of the original works remain, but the outer appearance has been transformed.

Contributor Notes

Author Greg Kennedy writes poetry, practices spiritual direction, and runs ecologically grounded retreats at the Ignatius Jesuit Centre in Guelph, Ontario. He has published with Novalis all three volumes of Reupholstered Psalms, and Amazing Friendships Between Animals and Saints. His prayer is unconventional but, he trusts, unconditionally faithful.

Lorraine Roy's art (www.LroyArt.com) is featured on the cover and inside the book. Raised in rural Southwestern Ontario, Lorraine completed an Honours B.Sc. in Horticultural Science before opting for a professional career in art textiles.
