About the authors
Daina Augaitis is a Canadian curator of contemporary art. She has held curatorial positions at the Vancouver Art Gallery; Walter Phillips Gallery, Banff; Western Front, Vancouver; Convertible Showroom, Vancouver; and Franklin Furnace, New York; and was formerly director of Visual Arts at The Banff Centre (1992-1994), where she organized residencies for artists and curators. Augaitis has edited anthologies and written numerous catalogue essays and articles, frequently addressing cultural and social issues.
Lorne Falk is Canadian arts educator with interests in contemporary visual and media arts, digital culture, and cultural theory and criticism. Falk has written and published more than 60 essays, produced multiple catalogues and books, and curated more than 150 exhibitions. From 1989 to 1994 he was Program Director at The Banff Centre, where he created and directed an international multidisciplinary residency program for artists and scholars. Among Falk's many appointments during his multidisciplinary career, he has served as Dean of Faculty, the School of the Museum of Fine Arts (SMFA), Boston; Director and Chief Curator, Walter Phillips Gallery, Banff; as a consultant for The Getty Trust, Los Angeles and the Hong Kong Arts Centre; and on the editorial board of Convergence - The Journal for Research into New Media Technologies, Luton.
Sylvie Gilbert is a curator who has developed art exhibitions that explore critical issues in contemporary culture. She was curator at the Walter Phillips Gallery from 1989 to 1994 and currently works as an independent curator in Montreal.
