Description

Poems on Land and on Water explores a terrain as rocky and a climate as varied as the physical environment of Newfoundland itself. The poet finds her material by "mining" memory and language, and by exploring the very ordinary question of how one thing leads to another. She writes about cycles of belief and loss of belief, freeze and thaw, discovery and abandonment. She is interested in the landscape of bays, dreams, deserted roads, and dysfunctional families. She also writes poetry for summer days, in the belief that writing about something sometimes makes it happen.
