About the authors
A former art director and filmmaker, Battson was the program coordinator for the Poet`s Refuge reading series; producer of the "Word Up!" series (videos on MuchMusic, compilation CD with Virgin Records and an anthology published by Key Porter); the Canadian poetry organizer for Lollapalooza; and organizer of the "Poetry Express", a poets and playwrights reading series at the Fringe Festival of Toronto. She is well-respected in the spoken word movement in the U.S. and has toured there extensively.
Toronto-based writer, Phlip Arima, a well-known and respected performance poet, has appeared on stages across Canada and in the United States. His poetry videos (produced by Vision Television) have aired nationally and his first collection of satirical fiction has received many favorable reviews. Phlip co-organized and hosted The Basement Reading Series for two years and is currently on the Board of Directors for The Art Bar poetry reading series.
Born in Vancouver, Stan Rogal now lives in Toronto. He ran the popular Idler Pub Reading Series for ten years, was co-creator of Bald Ego Theatre, and is now the artistic director of Bulletproof Theatre. He is the author of the novel, The Long Drive Home (Insomniac, 1999), and numerous poetry collections, including Geometry of the Odd, (Wolsak & Wynn, 1999), In Search of the Emerald City (Seraphim, 2004) and Fabulous Freaks (Wolsak & Wynn, 2005). Lines of Embarkation is Stan's fifth book of poetry.
