About the authors

Pat Connolly (1928–2012) broadcast hockey at CJCB Sydney, CJCH Halifax, and CFDR Dartmouth, as well as radio stations in Chatham and London, Ontario. He was a television sportscaster with CBHT and CJCH in Halifax and wrote general columns for the Halifax Chronicle-Herald and Halifax Daily News.

Joel Jacobson was a dear friend of Pat Connolly for almost fifty years. During a twenty-five-year career with the Halifax Chronicle Herald, Joel covered sports, politics and business. For the last eighteen years, ending in 2009, he authored the Bright Spot and Great Kids columns highlighting the best characteristics of everyday people.
