Description

The sensational bestselling autobiography from the guy who defined the game
There will never be another player like Mr. Hockey. Certainly no one has ever come close to matching Gordie Howe's incredible twenty consecutive seasons among the top five scorers in the NHL. No one has come close to scoring 100 points after the age of forty. It seems improbable that anyone will ever again play for Team Canada while sharing the ice with his two sons. What seems even less likely is that another player will suit up as a professional hockey player in five different decades. Still, Howe did so much more to inspire generations of hockey players. Despite Howe's unyielding ferocity on the ice, his name has long been a byword for decency, generosity, and honesty off of it.
Mr. Hockey is the definitive account of the game's most celebrated legacy, as told by the man himself. Gordie's charm, wit, and wisdom are on full display as he takes you on a journey through his incredible life.

About the author

GORDIE HOWE played for the Detroit Red Wings and Hartford Whalers of the National Hockey League, and the Houston Aeros and New England Whalers in the WHA. A four-time Stanley Cup champion with the Red Wings, he won six Hart Trophies as the league’s most valuable player and six Art Ross Trophies as the leading scorer. He was the inaugural recipient of the NHL Lifetime Achievement Award in 2008. He is the only player to have competed in the NHL in five different decades (1940s through 1980s). Howe’s name and nickname, “Mr. Hockey,” as well as his wife’s nickname as “Mrs. Hockey,” are registered trademarks.
