Description
Manitou Chronicles takes us on a spirit journey that echoes with the cries of wolves, the unutterable silence of the barrens, the merciful crackle of the campfire, the songs of the Anisihinabay and the Cree, the bluster of new towns thrown up on ancient land, and then again…the silence….There is redemption in the silence, in the acceptance of what is and what must be. It is clearer in the North than it is in the softer climes, and therein lies the special beauty of the place. There is a powerful thematic unity which stands at the core of much of Michael's creative work — a concern for the disadvantaged, the need and endless search for shelter from the storms of life, the ceaseless quest for peace and the constant guiding lights of hope.
About the authors
Contributor Notes
Michael Latter was an accomplished poet, songwriter, raconteur. Mosaic Press proudly published his first book, Lizard on a Scalding Stone, his debut book of poems and it was widely praised as an important new voice in Canadian poetry. Throughout his life, he continued to write and upon his death in 2013, he left behind a large body of finely crafted poetry. The literary muse never left him….and his voice and his thoughts always reverberated with poetic imagery and sounds. In addition to poetry, Michael always composed, performed and recorded countless CDs of original materials, which included songs, instrumentals, stories and fortunately, there is a live—performance video.
