Description
With humour, candour, and intelligence, Dr. Teed not only provides insight into modern day feline health and welfare issues, but also describes how the experiences of a cat are mirrored in our own lives. Through personal stories of her years as a veterinarian and as an overall cat lover, Dr. Teed calls the cat the ultimate success story and through careful study has found the secrets to his success.
About the author
Dr. Carol Teed graduated from the Atlantic Veterinary College in 1990. She spent most of her twenty-three year career as a veterinarian working in a feline specialty practice where she became fluent in the mysterious language of cats. However, she maintains there is no such thing as a feline expert and refuses to call herself one, even after seventeen years of owning and operating her own practice. While observing cats through their accelerated life cycle, she became fascinated by their ability to bring positive change to the lives of those they interact with. She currently lives in the rural Niagara region, in Ontario, Canada with her husband, four children, two dogs, three cats and three chickens. She is working on her second book, and always has a cat on her lap and two looking over her shoulder.
Editorial Reviews
"A moving story of change and self-discovery found through the beauty and wisdom of the feline. Dr. Teed delivers a passionate translation of the secret language of cats."- Kathy Stinson, Registered Veterinary Technician and Veterinary Consultant
“‘Dogs may be man’s best friend, but cats are a reflection of ourselves as humans.’ As a body-mind practitioner, I teach people to listen to the language of their bodies. Most people override their body signals with their minds and have lost the honesty that cats demonstrate to us every moment. Dr. Teed captures the gifts that cats have to offer us with her cat-like intuition and captivating writing style that bridges science and the everyday world. Dr. Teed’s book reminds us that as we listen to the secret language of cats, we can re-learn the secret language of ourselves.”
“If you are thinking about getting a cat (or another cat, as one is rarely enough), read this book. Dr. Teed describes the needs of the cat and delves into what you need to know to maintain a cat’s excellent health and well-being, physical and otherwise. Dr. Teed’s knowledge, experience and insight are evident through real life stories and experiences. It is clear that she understands the language of cats, verbal and otherwise, and in this book, she shares what she has learned.”
