Description

Did the French sailors who came to Newfoundland a long time ago to fish for cod leave traces of their passage? With the help of his sister and a kindly old man, will Elvis Bozec succeed in finding the traces of his ancestor on l?ile Rouge, where nothing of the Bretons' passage is still visible?

Twenty years after its publication, Bouton d'or Acadie is bringing back this classic from its catalogue, finalist for the 2003-2004 Hackmatack Young People's Choice Award and recipient of the 2004 Canadian Toy Testing Council Award.

About the author

Françoise Enguehard is a native of Saint-Pierre-et-Miquelon, a French archipelago located near the island of Newfoundland. The accomplished author, who has lived in St. John's for nearly 50 years, is a journalist (formerly with Radio-Canada, now a columnist for the daily newspaper L'Acadie nouvelle). Her first book, Les litanies de l'Île-aux-Chiens, tells the story of her Breton ancestors who came to seek their fortune "in the Americas". L'archipel du docteur Thomas and a second novel for young people, Le pilote du Roy, evoke specific characters in the history of Saint-Pierre-et-Miquelon.
