Description

Designed as an introduction to research and writing skills for French-speaking college and university students, this is the first Canadian manual of its kind. This helpful book is divided into two parts. Part One, 'Savoir-faire pratiques', presents a wide range of 'how-to's', from making themost of a library (an extensive list of documentary tools, including computer sources, is appended to this section) to analyzing statistical tables, maps, and visual material, to conducting an interview. Part Two, 'La demarche de recherche', takes the student from defining a subject of researchthrough drawing up a plan of argumentation to writing a finished essay or report. Two appendices outline the standard methods of documentation for bibliographies and references to sources within the text. Generously illustrated throughout with detailed examples, this practical guide will be an indispensable aid to students in virtually all disciplines-from the humanities and social sciences to management studies and even the physical sciences.
