Description
Ever since young Susan Sinclair became Guardian of the Crystal of the North, she has had the rare ability to transport to various moments in time. Wherever there’s an imbalance in history, it’s her mission to set it right before returning home. Susan’s third adventure lands her in the Holy Roman Empire in the year 1212.
Susan, however, isn’t alone. Her visiting cousin from Australia, Jason, accidentally comes along for the ride. They find themselves in the woods following a trail of straggly children. The kids are part of the children’s crusade, traveling to Cologne, Germany, to join a Crusade to the Holy Land to spread Christianity. Hiding among them is Katerina, a girl forced to flee after hearing of a plot to kill the future emperor, Frederick—who’s also her cousin.
With three dangerous knights hunting Katerina, Susan believes it’s her mission to help her find her grandmother and warn Frederick before the coronation. They disguise Katerina as a boy to fool their foes, but it’s not enough. If Susan can just learn to control her growing crystal powers, she could save not only her new friends but also all of history.

THE STORY SO FAR
Book 1, A Rare Gift, tells the story of how Susan Sinclair receives a crystal at a flea market. A lady gives it to her, but it is more correct to say that the crystal chose Susan. Unfortunately Susan doesn’t wait to hear what is important about the crystal but wanders off into the crowd.
She wakes up on a sailing ship in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean. Susan has no idea where she is or how she got there, but she does know that she doesn’t like it. And she doesn’t like the boy, Jeremy, who sneers at her and accuses her of trying to steal his knife.
In a later meeting with the lady, Mrs. Coleman, Susan learns that there are four crystals and she is now the Guardian of the Crystal of the North and that it will lead her to places where there is an imbalance or unfairness in the world and that she will be able to help correct the situation.
Susan gradually grows into her role and Jeremy and Susan have many adventures and help many children before the first story is fully told. Mrs. Coleman gives Susan an envelope containing instructions for how to use the crystal. She gifts Susan with the bag she used during her travels. *** In Book 2, Pharaoh’s Tomb, Susan is pulled away very suddenly. As she travels back through time her crystal fades from her hand. She arrives in Ancient Egypt with no crystal to take her back to her family. A magician has pulled her to him. He needs her help to create the crystals. She is in a time before her crystal was formed. Her only way home is to work with this ambitious and self-centered man to create the crystals. In the six months it takes the crystals to form Susan lives as a princess within the court of the pharaoh, Tuthmoses II. She makes friends and foes as she learns to live in this totally different culture. By the time her crystal is fully formed and calling to her, tragedy has removed it from her reach. She must show courage and resolution to retrieve her crystal and bid her new friends goodbye. She arrives home just ahead of an Australian cousin, Jason, who is resting between bouts of treatment for cancer. And now to Book 3, Lady Knight.
Editorial Reviews
The result is an engrossing timeslip saga that will delight young fantasy enthusiasts of the genre and newcomers alike, who will find Susan a
realistic, believable protagonist who continually faces challenges and overcomes obstacles in the year 1212,
when "...thousands of children took to the roads of Europe, all travelling to free the Holy Land."

I thoroughly enjoyed Lady Knight. The story really gripped me, and the addition of Jason is a master stroke, now your readers will anxiously await what happens to him in Australia! Well done, indeed. http://www.irenenwatts.com
Lady Knight is a storytelling bonanza. The action moves rapidly, and the protagonists are called upon to be brave, loyal, smart, and sometimes fierce. The supporting cast offers a range of menacing bad guys and surprising helpers, adding many light, sometimes comic, notes to a basic chase plot.
Readers of both traditional fantasy and contemporary realism will find the story accessible and engaging. The Children’s Crusade, as it is now called, is a strong hook for preteens, particularly those interested in social justice and historical issues. Lady Knight is a fun, high-action fantasy novel for readers with a big appetite for adventure..Resource Links
