Description

Andrew Jay Gillespie, is a lifelong member of the Mohawks of the Bay of Quinte on the Tyendinaga Territory in Ontario, Canada. He is a police officer of 26 years and author of the novel I Am Madness. In the 1970’s, his father accepted a job with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. After a childhood of moving from many different Indigenous Territories, his family eventually returned to their roots back in Tyendinaga. He finished high school, then graduated post-secondary learning with Dean’s List Honours, obtaining a degree in Paralegal Studies. Policing now entrenched in his psyche, Andrew Jay began his career in 1993 and served at various locations across Ontario. He excelled in this field and after being promoted to Detective, he began work on complex, in-depth criminal investigations and used these experiences to fuel the I Am Madness novel. Following the years spent as a Detective, he has again returned to his Indigenous roots and is now serving as the Police Chief for the Tyendinaga Mohawk Nation. Andrew Jay is a self-professed beer and chicken wing enthusiast. He is constantly on the prowl to find the hottest chicken wings on the planet. I Am Madness is his first novel.
