Description
"From a former Viking settlement on the Northern Peninsula to the award-winning paths that make up East Coast Trail on the Avalon Peninsula, Hikes of Newfoundland is a must-have guide to the must-do walks and hikes for those who wish to explore this unique, historic island.
Suitable for hikers of all levels, this book offers an overview of over 150 trails, including length, elevation, and difficulty rating, and tips on what to watch for along the way. Maps and GPS references will get you to the trailhead; full-colour photographs will get you excited about the path ahead.
The dozens of colour photographs will inspire you to make your own bold colour choices. The nuggets of history, and tales of mittens and their knitters, make Saltwater Mittens a book knitters and non-knitters alike can enjoy."
About the authors
Originally from Forester’s Falls, Ontario, Katie began her outdoor adventure career working at Wilderness Tours on the Ottawa River. She pursued a business diploma in Outdoor Adventure Tourism at Algonquin College, which has allowed her to work and explore across Canada. Katie has been a resident of and tour guide in Newfoundland since 2009. She has worked as trail crew with IATNL, guided tours in Gros Morne National Park and up the Northern Peninsula, and explored western Newfoundland’s trails year-round. She is passionate about the outdoors and thrilled to share this passion with a wider audience.
This love of the great outdoors led her to start a blog called https://outdoorsandonthego.com/, which provides information on all sorts of outdoor activities.
More recently, Katie has started an Online Business Management Agency called Peak Flow OBM. This agency specializes in helping tour operators and people in the travel industry improve and streamline the backend operations of their businesses. Katie's goal is to make the great outdoors accessible to as many people as possible.
