David Hill has traveled the main streets and back roads of Maine to photograph beautiful and largely forgotten cars from the "golden age" of America's love affair with the automobile. But beautiful to David's eye is not always fresh paint and polished chrome, rather cars and trucks with stories to tell and histories to share; cars with rust and trucks with scars that reveal small bits and pieces of their decades-long journeys. David always keeps his eyes open, wondering what he might find alongside the road, behind the next barn, or hidden in the trees. David Hill was born in Portland, Maine and raised in Gorham. He has lived in a number of towns in Southern Maine. He currently lives in Southern Portland. Hill has been a television photojournalist since 1992, spending the last seventeen years at WGME. He got his first camera for Christmas in 1978, at age eight - a Kodak Instamatic - that he still has. A wanderer, Hill spends a lot of time visiting around the state of Maine, with his camera in tow.
