Description
Flitt is a little bank swallow who returns to his beloved Prince Edward Island every spring to nest in the same seaside cliffs. But this year, things are different. The land has changed, he can't find as many insects to eat, and there are fewer swallows to play with.
When his chicks are born, Flitt realizes he needs to teach his little swallows, all the swallows, a special call. Flitt's Call is a bank swallow's prayer and plea for the planet. It will open people's hearts, move others to protect the land, and remind everyone of our shared connection to this fragile, beautiful home called Earth.
About the authors
Born and raised in beautiful Prince Edward Island, Kara Griffin grew up in a small rural community on the North Shore. Her writing is inspired by her love for nature and animals. Her hopeful stories celebrate the beauty and wonder of nature and invite us to see and understand the world through our hearts. She lives in Charlottetown with her charming cat, Amelia. The Sea That Sings To Me is her debut children's book. Visit www.karagriffinstories.com
Prince Edward Island based watercolour artist K. Shawn Larson has been honing her art skills since she received her first ABC book. Both thrilled and intrigued by the paintings, Shawn saw alligators that could act, bears that could bowl, and cats that could catch. Shawn has worked on many projects to promote art in education over the years. Her art appeared in the 2008 book, Dust Bunny Boogie, and in 2021 she became a juried member of the PEI Crafts Council.
