About the author

Marion Victoria Royce's O.C., 1971, her D.C.L. from Acadia University, 1975, and Governor General's Award, "Persons Case", 1979 (50th anniversary) were dserved rewards for her decades of service as teacher, adminstrator, and author. After the English and History classrooms of Moulton College, she worked for the World YWCA for 10 years, travelling to 24 countries from their headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland. In 1954, she became the founding Director of the Women's Bureau in the Department of Labour in Ottawa. In her semi-retirement years to 1982, she was a part-time researcher at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Edcuation, writing many articles on the education of women.
