Description

In this book in the Kids Can Do It series, kids can learn how to turn a pair of old sunglasses into wacky windshield-wiper glasses and an ordinary box into a "gift" box that rumbles. Kids begin by learning about the parts of a basic circuit and go on to build switches and battery packs. Projects are made from recycled household materials -- such as cardboard tubes, clothespins and empty shampoo bottles -- and powered by batteries. Helpful hints and troubleshooting tips ensure success with every gadget!

Editorial Reviews

With his ample knowledge and ability to present activities in a clear fashion, Bartholomew makes tough subject matter accessible. Two major strengths of Electric Gadgets and Gizmos are its superior yet simple illustrations and its easy-to-follow instructions.

Science Activities

This book will appeal to children who have an interest in making the gadgets and gizmos for their own sake. They will learn much about the practical applications of electricity, and the breakdown into steps allows the more creative kids to go on and build battery-powered gadgets of their own.
