Description
The influence of educational associations is often overlooked in treatises on Ontario's educational system because these groups tend to operate in an informal manner. This volume discusses the various types of educational organizations, their purposes, the scope and nature of their activities, and their contributions to education. It includes professional organizations, and a wide variety of groups with a direct or peripheral interest in education in its broad definition.
About the author
W.G. Fleming (1923-1975) was a professor emeritus of Education at the University of Toronto and at OISE.
Editorial Reviews
"This scrupulous concern for accuracy coupled with the range of subjects treated explains why Ontario's Educative Society is at the very least an indispensable reference work ... [It] is a monumental study and no one seriously interested in Ontario or Canadian education can afford not to be familiar with the riches it contains."
University of Toronto Quarterly
"... the very weight of the research and its literature and well laid-out presentation makes these volumes invaluable as reference material."
Educational Digest
"Fleming's volumes are without equal, not only in Ontario but across the nation, in their analysis and synthesis of a province's educational development. For all who are interested in any facet of Ontario education, broadly defined, this series will be a ready and authoritative reference."
