Description
For more than 200 years, voyageur canoes charged across the waters from Quebec to British Columbia, and north to Hudson Bay. The voyageurs spent many months away from home. Their days were long and hard. They braved dangerous storms and swirling rapids, and carried their canoes over rough terrain. The voyageurs were a special brand of tough, rugged adventurers.
About the author
Marie Savage lives in Sidney, BC, a small town big on used bookstores. She was raised in Chateauguay, Quebec, which is just south of Montreal near the Kahnawake Indian Reserve. Watching baseball is Marie's first love, though travelling runs a close second. She married her husband for his season's tickets to the Toronto Blue Jays. It worked out well; years later, all three of their children have played baseball for Little League of Canada and other organizations. Marie's work has been published in newspapers and magazines across Canada.
