Cordi O’Callaghan is trapped on a remote island research station and in way over her head. While a hurricane rages, Cordi stalks a murderer — or is it the other way around?
Zoologist Cordi O’Callaghan thinks she’s in for a relaxing birdsong study at a research station on Spaniel Island, off the coast of South Carolina. But, as usual, she can’t escape the chaos that follows her everywhere she goes. As a hurricane rages, trapping her and the rest of the researchers, the director of the station is found dead under troubling circumstances.
Unable to resist a mystery, Cordi sets out to investigate, and ends up getting a crash course on the life habits of bats, sea turtles, and rattlesnakes — and a refresher on attempted murder.
Suzanne F. Kingsmill has a B.A. in English literature, a B.Sc. in biology, and a M.Sc. in zoology. She is the author of numerous magazine articles; two novels, Forever Dead and Innocent Murderer; and two non-fiction books, Breaking up Solvent and The Family Squeeze. She lives in Toronto.
Nicely done, and Cordi uses her scientific knowledge well.
The action is non-stop and the setting is incredible. The plot is complex, with twists and turns that keep Cordi and the reader on their toes.
…the author does a brilliant job of weaving together past and current transgressions as the fingers are pointed at possible suspects…If you are looking for mystery-filled thrill read with a surprise ending, this book needs to be on your TBR list.
There’s a slickly put together plot here that begins with what appears to be a sad case of bad luck. […] Novel with a smart, three-legged cat can fail to find its audience, and Forever Dead has that and the promise of more to come.
