Description

The colourful, information-packed Dreamspeaker Cruising Guides cover the most significant and accessible cruising areas of the southern inside passage, and have become standard references for British Columbia boaters. Volume 6, The West Coast of Vancouver Island will be just as invaluable.

With its rugged, rock-studded shoreline, relentlessly crashing ocean swells, miles of sandy beaches, diversity of wildlife and countless coves and bays, Vancouver Island's western shoreline, usually referred to simply as the West Coast, presents a challenging and thrilling adventure.

Intended to complement official hydrographic charts, Dreamspeaker Cruising Guides feature full-colour scenic photographs that showcase the splendour of the Pacific Northwest coast and informative and charming hand-drawn shoreline plans of selected marinas and small boat anchorages, ranging from safe allweather havens to secluded picnic spots and marine parks. With charts, tips and data, this guide pinpoints both popular and littleknown highlights to enhance the enjoyment and safety of any voyage to the West Coast.

Written in the personal style of a boater's logbook, these guides provide vital information about featured locations, plus notes on recreational activities for adults and children. Here you will find the best spots along the west coast of Vancouver Island from Cape Scott to Sooke including Bull Harbour, the Bunsby Islands and Barclay Sound, with full-colour scenic photographs that showcase the splendour of the Pacific Northwest Coast.

About the authors

Accomplished boating guide authors and sailors, Anne and Laurence Yeadon-Jones have produced seven Dreamspeaker Guides that provide highly detailed and comprehensive coverage of the Pacific Northwest - from Olympia, Washington State to the northern tip of Vancouver Island, British Columbia.

Their first adventure began when they left England and crossed the Atlantic Ocean aboard their 36-foot sailboat Dreamspeaker. Sailing to the East Coast of the United States via the Caribbean, they made Vancouver, Canada their home in 1988.

The first Dreamspeaker Guide was published in 1998. With Laurence's architectural background and love of drawing, design and geography and Anne's flair for descriptive and entertaining letters to family and friends, they combined their talents to create a successful series of guides that promote a safe and fun boating lifestyle.

Over the last 26 years Anne and Laurence have logged thousands of cruising hours charting, recording and photographing the rugged and beautiful coastline and islands of the Pacific Northwest. Their Dreamspeaker Guides are filled with Laurence's meticulous hand-drawn charts, and vital navigational and local information that guide boaters safely into busy harbors, marinas and sheltered anchorages.
