Description
Bernice Carswell's journey begins in the tumbledown shack that she calls home. Into the fixed ritual of her daily life enters George the dragonslayer. Together they begin a quest that takes them across Georgia Strait to the shores of Galiano Island.
Fugitive and seeker, Bernice is pursued by cruelly mocking images that she cannot control. The fragments of a terrifying past imprison her. But as the bountiful ocean draws a struggling Bernice towards renewal, the trauma that afflicts her gives way to a healed and whole self. Her dragonhunter finally meets his destiny, and Bernice, too, learns to recognize her own.
