Description

Canadian Social Trends is now available in three separate volumes. Each volume contains a vast amount of information about Canada and Canadians, past and present. We hope these three volumes will be useful to anyone who wants to understand what has happened in Canada, why it has happened, and what is likely to happen in the future. These three volumes are products of the information revolution. Together, they distil thousands of volumes of published and unpublished material about Canada. The material has been prepared to the highest standards of accuracy and is presented in an interesting and lively manner using photographs, charts, graphs and tables. Like Volumes 1 and 2, Volume 3 has three major units. The first unit contains material on the underlying population shifts in Canada, urbanization and changes in the health of Canadians. The second unit is devoted to assessing the major and important changes that have occurred in the status of Canadian women, as well as in the institutions of marriage and the family. The third unit examines changes in our working lives, our leisure, and concludes with a look at some major social problems in Canada today.
