Description

The seven pieces in Birds of Paradise, the fourth short story collection by Toronto author (and B.C. native) Helen Pereira, do not charm the reader, they snare you. Arrogant and desperate, shallow and calculating, Pereira's characters are emotionally naked. They are seemingly disparate travellers linked by quests. They are dream-catchers. All are in transit on buses, trains, in waiting rooms.
