About the authors

Giff Beaton has been observing and photographing nature for almost 30 years, the last 15 in Georgia. He is the senior author of the Annotated Checklist of Georgia Birds and Birding Georgia and Birds of Kennesaw Mountain. He has been leading bird tours in Georgia and across North America for about 10 years and has been on the state Bird Record Committees for both Georgia and South Carolina. He and his wife Becky live in Marietta, Georgia, not far from the great migrant location Kennesaw Mountain.

Professor-emeritus Ken Brock is an accomplished birding enthusiast. He is author of Birds of the Indiana Dunes, a former regional editor of the national ornithological journal North American Birds, and functions as a birding consultant to government. Brock is the former interim Dean of Arts and Sciences at Indiana University Northwest and a one-time U.S. Navy lieutenant.
