Description
Collector of bear lore for nearly half a century, author Larry Kaniut has chosen these tales and legends for their focus on the wisdom of bears and the strength of the human spirit in encounters with them. An Alaskan legend himself, Larry brings together 28 amazing stories of encounters with this four-legged wonder of the woods, spanning the time period from 1816 to 1999.
About the author
LARRY KANIUT grew up in the Pacific Northwest but he and his young bride headed to Anchorage, Alaska, in 1967 so Larry could take a teaching position. In 1975, Larry released "Alaska Bear Tales", the first in a series of popular books about adventures in the Alaskan wilderness. During the four decades that the Kaniuts have lived in Alaska, Larry has had some adventures of his own, spending summers working at construction, carpentry, commercial fishing or assistant guiding. He's also done a little trapping and gold prospecting. Larry recently rebuilt a wrecked Super Cub so that he could pursue his latest passion of flying.
