Description
"This book is a statement of profound gratitude for the woman who shared her life with me, my wife, Maggie. Maggie died on January 12, 2022, at the far-too-young age of seventy-one. Maggie and I had been married for almost forty-nine years, and I had known her for fifty-two years. Our life together was rich and full, a fantastic journey." -Keith Weaver, author and Maggie's husband
"Maggie made the magic happen. As my mentor, she inspired me by her dynamo approach to everything. Maggie was funny, personable, and down to earth, but she was also smart, tenacious, creative, and ingenious. A true leader." -Louise Grady, friend and former colleague
"Being among Maggie's colleagues and friends was an honour and a joy. Everything about her was luminous - she made the world warmer and brighter. Forever grateful for her presence, I now thank Keith for this memory." -Ulla de Stricker, longtime friend
"A heartwarming reminiscence of a life well-lived. Maggie's enthusiasm and happiness was contagious; she brought much joy to my life." -Judy Dunn, Retired Assistant Dean, Faculty of Information, University of Toronto
"I had the pleasure of working with Maggie for over 15 years. Her enthusiam, can-do attitude, and professionalism was something to behold. Maggie was a dear friend and colleague who always had my back." -Debbie Walker (retired), Government of Ontario
About the author
Having successfully retired from a long and fulfilling engineering career, Keith Weaver has made the switch to an enduring passion: writing. The present book, Flight, joins his other five novels, one novella, two books of short stories, and the memoir in tribute to his extraordinary wife, Maggie. There are further books in the pipeline. For an addicted reader and someone who has always had an insatiable thirst for knowledge, writing provides the perfect means to integrate all his interests in science, history, philosophy, languages, and technology, and to pursue fresh knowledge on every front. Things that anchor him to the real world are cooking, cycling in Europe, bread making, wine tasting in vineyards, spending time with many good friends, and enjoying the company of his two cats.
