Description

For the past twenty years, the Canadian artist has built a singular reputation based on the creation of his ingenious drawing machines: individually realized mechanisms that insert themselves into specific environments and record traces of human activity. In reality Storey has maintained two simultaneous artistic productions: works produced for gallery exhibition, and commissioned public works. Rarely have these two types of work been considered together. This publication fills that gap by presenting original works, prototypes and photographs of public works as well as drawings produced by the machines. Alan Storey has exhibited widely and is known for his public works, notably Pendulum which dominates the HSBC building in Vancouver. In English and French.
