Description

Winner of the McNally Robinson Book for Young People Award Pottery is one of the few things Krisjana shares with her father. But even that connection is tenuous as Kris, on the verge of turning 16, struggles through the trials of adolescence: drugs, alcohol and a sexually aggressive boyfriend. As her father's heart disease worsens and she must face his impending death, Kris is forced to confront her fear of loss; loss of her childhood, innocence and relationships that seem ever changing. Through the help of an unlikely friend, her stepbrother Myles, Krisjana learns the real value of friendship and family. She also learns that some relationships are better left to be washed away by the waves on the beach.
